Messy Church are having a break in December and January but there are lots of other activities and meetings for children and their families – see here.
The next meeting of Messy Church will be on
Monday 5th February 2018
Children and adults are welcome to join in the fun and Bible stories, followed by a meal. Come along at 3.15 or straight from school.
Messy Church …
- is a way of being church for families, involving fun
- its values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration
- is a church, not a craft club, that helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour
“It’s a church for people at all stages of their faith journey and of any age – a congregation that is as valuable and worthy of investment as any other congregation.”
Messy Church is an Island ecumenical organisation held at UCB and has been meeting on the first Monday of the month (holidays permitting) since 2014.
Each meeting is from 3.15 to 5.30 and finishes with everyone sitting down together for a meal (often pasta followed by cake). Ideally the parents and carers should join in Messy Church and especially the meal. The ecumenical group of helpers have been challenged into sharing their love of Jesus in a fun and stimulating way. For adults, you don’t need to be accompanying children to attend – all are welcome.
Messy Church isn’t a way of getting people to come to church on Sunday. There are examples of people starting in Messy Church and deciding to join Sunday church as well but these are few. If people wanted to go to the established church, they would be going by now. Messy Church is interdependent with established church, but usually operates as a separate congregation or church.
